Being in the remote and exotic islands of Hawaii is a getaway in itself. It may receive millions of tourists every year, but as soon as you get out of the tourist hub, it’s surprisingly easy to find your own personal haven.
Island resorts designed to be your personal getaway are what I like the most—the kind of place where you feel you can kick back, relax and pretend you’re in paradise.
Since you’re reading this page, I assume that you like Hawaii holiday accommodation just like this as well.
So, as we promised, we’re going to assist you in your planning process by giving our top picks for special Hawaii getaways…
Luxury Hawaii Getaways
The Lodge At Keole, Lanai city
I know that many of us go to Hawaii for the beaches, and many people, upon knowing that the Lodge at Keole is not by the beach will opt not to stay here—and I can understand that.
But if a getaway is what you’re looking for, you’ll miss out on so much by not staying at the Lodge.
A luxury hotel with the atmosphere of a traditional English country manor, you’ll still feel you’re in your own little Hawaiian sanctuary amidst island Pines. The resort ground is amazing and the perfect place for solitude—this is the ultimate luxury hideaway. ( And for those who really want to go to the beach, there’s a shuttle bus that goes to Manele Bay every day. )
Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, Kohala Coast, Big Island Hawaii
If you really want to stay at a hotel by the beach, we recommend staying at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows which has perfectly manicured lawns and a number of oceanfront rooms.
In addition to being an excellent place to relax, the beach is also heaven-sent as you are all but guaranteed to be swimming with turtles, schools of fish and manta rays when you take your daily dip.
The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui
Located on Wailea, The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, with its suites and villas accommodation is a great Hawaii oceanfront getaway. The ground is not all that great, but the suites, at 840 square feet, and the luxurious villas are.
Amenities in a number of the suites include marble bathrooms, entertainment centers and kitchenettes among others. And if you really want to get away from the kids, go to the adults only pool!
JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa At Ko Olina
If you want a secluded hideaway yet still be near to the action and partying at Waikiki, stay at the Ihilani resort and spa.
Located on the Ko Olina Resort community, the Ihilana boasts beautiful lawns, activities for both parents and kids, saltwater lagoons, an 18-hole golf course and a spa with whirlpool.
This place can get overcrowded during the high season though.
The Manele Bay Hotel
With majestic gardens in a secluded area, The Manele Bay Hotel is undoubtedly one of Hawaii’s best getaways.
It is perched on a bluff overlooking a beautiful stretch of white sand beach and is very near to a marine conservation area. The place will be undergoing renovations this year ( 2005 ), so consider this when you make reservations.
