Choose Your Mexico Beach Vacation Destiation
So you wanna go on a Mexican beach vacation but don't know what destination is right for you? Well, this article is here to help. These are the best beach vacation spots in Mexico. We've taken the time to help you determine which one is for you.
Cancun
Interested in a Mexico beach vacation with a youthful flare and happening nightlife? Look no further than Cancun. Since the 1970s, Cancun has been a tourist Mecca for spring breakers, partiers and young people looking to have some fun. That doesn't mean romantic getaways can't be had in Cancun; with tons of all-inclusive resorts to choose from, you and your love can find Cancun to be pretty relaxing. All-inclusive resorts are also friendly for those on a budget since they include room, meals, alcohol and tips all for one flat rate.
Best for: young people, nightlife enthusiasts, those on a budget
Cozumel
In terms of beautiful beaches, Cozumel is tough to top. Crystal clear water and reefs make Cozumel a great destination for snorkelers and scuba divers. Wanna swim with dolphins? You can do that in Cozumel! Expect to find Cozumel to be a little more peaceful and romantic than its competing hot spot, Cancun. This is also a great destination for those looking to charter a fishing boat. Cozumel is far friendlier to families than Cancun where the partying can often be disturbing to couples with young children.
Best for: families, newlyweds, scuba divers, fishing enthusiasts
Acapulco
Acapulco is a little less accessible than the more mainstream destinations of Cozumel and Cancun. However, if you're willing to go the extra mile to get to this Mexican beach vacation destination, I think you'll find it's more than worth it. Acapulco is on the Pacific coast side of Mexico. It rests between the shore and a mountain range leaving a truly breathtaking view no matter which way you turn. The area is more rich in culture and history than Cancun, which is a very new city. As such, some of the resorts in Acapulco can feel a little "old". If you're looking for very modern amenities, it is advisable to do your homework because some establishments in Acapulco are not up to modern standards. This is the best Mexican vacation destination for those hoping to avoid partying 20-somethings.
Best for: older crowds, those on less of a budget, those interested in culture and history
Playa del Carmen
Located south of Cancun in the Mayan Riviera (which is also where Cozumel is located), Playa del Carmen (or just "Playa") is a cosmopolitan's fantasy. Modern nightlife, shopping, and fantastic dining are a few of the highlights you can expect to enjoy at Playa del Carmen. This is probably the best Mexico beach destination for well-to-do, high-earning people looking for a high class experience. This was once just a small fishing village and has only recently expanded into an international tourist destination. One downside of Playa is that there are no direct flights into the city. A little more transportation is required to reach this destination. Flights into both Cancun and Cozumel have charters to Playa.
Best for: the white collar crowd, shoppers, golfers
