Five Of The Main Beaches On St Thomas Island
Magens Beach
This one mile beach is best known by Conde Nast’s travel feature which dubbed it as one of the world’s top 10 beaches.
Magens Beach does offer a beautiful white beach and calm water for swimming which is ideal for travelers looking for some fun and relaxation in this isle in the US Virgin Islands.
This is a national park and a fee is required to enter the beach ( $3 USD for foreigners )
Not good for snorkeling
Can get very busy
Lifeguard service available during the day
Has snack bar and sailboat rental
Sapphire Beach
Sapphire Beach is on the east end and faces St John. It offers just as much natural beauty as Magens Beach and is also a great place for various water sports such as surfing and parasailing.
Nearby hotel: Sapphire Beach Resort
Near coral reef so it’s a good snorkeling spot
Coki Beach
Another one of the popular St Thomas beaches which can easily get crowded is Coki Beach. It is just a bridge walk away from Coral World, so you can easily combine the two for a day’s sea and beach adventure. This is the most popular beach hangout for locals ( and hey, they should know what’s best, right? ) and cruise passengers. Very clear and calm water.
Good snorkeling, calm water
A great place to learn how to snorkel and dive as well as to try other water sports
Lindbergh Beach
If you’re lucky ( or unlucky, whichever way you put it ), you might just find yourself amidst a carnival on Lindbergh beach. This exotic St Thomas beach is also frequently visited and habituated by Iguanas and is a great spot for swimming
Nearby hotels: Emerald Beach Hotel and Island Beachcomber Hotel.
Morning Star Beach
This is the beach where the Marriott Morning Star Beach Resort is located. With very close proximity to Charlotte Amalie, it is also a great place to learn various water sports such as windsurfing.
Nearby hotels: Marriott Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Beach, Best Western Emerald Beach Resort
Topless/Nude Beach
Little Magens Beach – is a short swim from Magens beach, this is also a popular beach hangout for gay people.
