Tenerife is the Canary Island’s most visited isle. And for good reason. Home to Spain’s highest mountain, it is a combination of beautiful beaches and lush forests and is host to many exotic flora and fauna.
Many may tout Tenerife as an island that’s too crowded with tourists. And as much as this is so especially in the Southern part of the island and the beach communities, you only have to travel 30 minutes to get to tranquil Spanish communities with hardly a trace of tourist activity.

Tenerife Top Vacation Spots & Attractions
Many visit Tenerife island for its warm sunny weather and sun-drenched beaches but another draw to this major Canary Island is the varied activities it has to offer. Listed below are some interesting things to do when you’ve had enough of the beach.
1) Exploring Tenerife
Tenerife’s magical landscape is probably the island’s best attraction and exploring the island is a very rewarding experience. Renting a car and traveling on your own is very easy to do, so this is one thing that you might want to consider first. Otherwise, there are other ways to get around the island.
a. Motorbikes – If you would rather feel the wind as you travel the coast, there are many choices of travel on the more adventurous 2-wheeled vehicles. It should not be difficult to find a place that rents mopeds.
b. Travel by Public transport – The buses are reasonably efficient in Tenerife. So if you’ve got time on your hands, prefer to try what most of the locals use, and/or are on a tight budget, taking the bus can be an adventure in itself.
2) The Different Views of Tenerife
If you love breathtaking views, you’ll get much of it in Tenerife. And there are many ways to get just the vistas you want.
a. Walk up Mount Teide: The walk is a reasonably easy one and should not be a problem to a reasonably healthy person. The sights that await you from different lookout points are truly amazing.
b. A View From The Sky: Want to see a different view of Tenerife’s coastline? Get on a hot air baloon.
c. Cable Car: Going to Mount Teide and are not in the mood for a walk? Take the cable car instead
3) Inter island Adventure: The island of Gomera, not far from Tenerife, is a beautiful unspoilt place with a very relaxing ambiance. A tropical rainforest is in the island’s core and pretty much defines the lifestyle of the entire island. If you love walking, idyllic places and nature, you’ll be besotted by this place. ( About 90 minutes by ferry from Tenerife and about half that time by jet foil )
4) Wildlife Galore : Tenerife’s wildlife is one of the island’s main attractions and you’ll never be short of places to see this during your holidays.
Go to Loro Parque where you’ll see parrots, penguins and more parrots. There are also Dolphin and sealion shows and a big aquarium
5) Mount Teide At night: And this is of course worth mentioning. City lights may be beautiful at night, but Mount Teide can be just as warm and as romantic.
A Mount Teide At Night Tour usually includes the following:
a. Transportation for going up the mountain just when the sun sets where you’ll be witness to the amazing vistas from above as well as the beauty of this national park.
b. Wine and dinner
c. Stargazing with a very informed guide
